Great hospitality, great vittles and great times with the Bolter Brethren.

Wow! Jim and Jayne! What a beautiful setting for a get together with amazing food and great company! I was especially honored by your inclusion of family, friends, and neighbors to the Wrenchfest, they treated us all like more family and friends and it felt great!

One long day was not long enough but it gave me a little chance to do some catching up and to remedy a problem that incurred on Hambone's overdrive transmission. Thanks to all for following along as Hambone extracted the rear overdrive housing using my hard won 'gallon pail system' (too technical to go into much detail, haha). Hambone actually brought two Muncie 319 overdrive transmissions, one to remedy a problem and the other for the overdrive inspection of parts and electrical components.

We had a beautiful ride in the verdant central Virginia countryside to a friend of Jim and Jaynes that has a beautiful collection of early thirties Model A Fords, a 1 1/2 ton truck, '65 Mustang, '68 Camaro all housed in a truly impressive workspace. Mikey decided to willy nilly stop his truck on the way back and cause a back up of traffic for miles, but, well, he really should tell the story himself.

To describe the evening repast, the incredible feast orchestrated by Jim and Jayne would be folly by this unworthy hand, suffice it to say that the complete barnyard and forest sacrificed their lives for our appetites. I for one have never had more delicious turkey (wild and tame), pork, or venison than I have had by Jim and Jaynes skills in the kitchen. The highlight of the evening was the awards ceremony where two worthy recipients were honored with THE NED, a high honor indeed to those brothers who have helped others along their paths, Mikey and Jim! Congratulations!

Great to catch up with friends old and new. Praise for the long distance travelers...Nick, Carl, Jethro, Hambone, Mikey, Billy, Victor, George. Everyone came quite a ways with the exception of Sweet and I who are almost neighbors to Jim and Jayne.

Sorry to miss John and Pat. Pat, I scored one of your outstanding WRENCHFEST 2023 insulated cups! It is so well made I think I may drink coffee out of it as it is vacuum insulated!

I had my door open a crack this morning, so thanks to Sandy for coming in to help me wake up.

Great to see old friends and make some new ones. Sorry I missed some of you.

Thanks Jim and Jayne and Dan too! I made it home in a little under 3 hours without incident, apparently avoiding the weekenders and accidents. I am whooped which I suppose is the symptom of a fantastic weekend.
Can't wait till the next one!

Oh and, the dang truck started up and drove into the shop on the first try....go figure. Much work to be done before it hits 70 again!

Also, thanks to the extraction crew for helping me out this morning. Could not have done it without you all.

I had a Great time! The weather was perfect and we had a grand view with a yard full of trucks! Thank You Pat for the custom coolies. I thoroughly enjoyed seeing some internal parts of a tranny that I had not seen before. It was a pleasure to have a great group of folks in the backwoods with me! As always, it is great to spend time with the ODSS brothers ! I hope John retrieved every needed part on his adventure to acquire a 1927 truck! It was nice to meet you Jethro, I hope you will come to the next event!..... Picture are coming soon!

The dog ate all my pictures only 2 survived. Enjoyed the odss gathering from the great north extension. Thanks Jim; for everything especially the coffee. I note, not a single 60-66 represented. How can that be?

I too had a great time. More special was the fact that my daughter Kayla came and had a great time. Yes, about the little roadblock. Leaving from the "Museum" of Model A's. About 3 miles down the road. Kayla and I are enjoying a particularly enjoyable cruise through central Virginia. I hear Kayla exclaim "Uh oh" and I notice my truck failing to keep rolling. I figured at least I had help with Us to get us out of a pickle. My comrades all pull into a nearby driveway and proceed to take pictures. LOL. Chris Sweet comes rolling up laughing and we proceed to investigate the problem. Huh, broken wire. Chris puts the wire back together and we are able to get moving again. Thanks Sweet!!!! To get the heat off me. Billy had an issue getting moving again after I got moving. Care to elaborate Billy? I would like to thank Jim and Jayne also for a great time and for making Kayla feel welcome around a bunch of truck fellas. The Ned was a very special surprise and couldn't be happier to share the honor with Jim. I am working on an idea for my addition to it as we speak.

Stovebolters, The ODSS Wrenchfest was superb in that the hosts Jim & Jayne graciously opened there property grounds to all ODSS brothers & yes a sister too (Mike's daughter Kayla). In fact everything, the garage shop, house, basement & a convenient wash room, barn, & the kitchen. I met new faces to place with the commenters on this forum, learned more about my truck, generally was glad I was able to attend. Pics are attached, which the group ones were taken by Jayne & hardshell sent them to me. The rest are mine & feel free to share with whomever. The pics in the Ford model A garage were from Jim's friend whom has been with us ODSS brothers in Winchester before & his Dad was a collector and restorer. It was a nearby drive of 8 stovebolts through country roads in Lousia County, VA & the visuals of the up and down driving was a site to see. I was next to last in my green '48 Chevrolet pick-up & it gave me goosebumps & more determination to wrench on stovebolts. Enjoy everyone. V/r, Nick

I met some feller Bolters I have never met before. Always nice to put a name to a face.
I have to say, that for the most part, Stovebolt attracts a lot of wonderful people. (I'm working on myself so that the "for the most part" can be deleted from this particular sentence. I'm trying.)
I pondered one time, "Who is my favorite Bolter?" and, "Who is my least favorite Bolter?" I didn't have to ponder very long to realize that those are the two dumbest question anyone could ever ask. There is something about the Stovebolt Community which brings out the best in a person. I've never witnessed anything like it.
I can't wait for the next event. Maybe then Sweet can try to seek revenge for what must have been a humiliating for him, loss in the Mud Bog Race...

Yes Carl, Sweet's 'walk of shame' into the Ford Barn was a sad sight. I'm assuming it was the incident where he had to be pushed out of the ditch.

Cosmo, maybe worse than the walk of shame was the drive of shame with those mud walls loud and proud all the way home. Then again, who am I to talk...no one had to push start the "Green Machine"....

Thank you to my ODSS Brothers who made the weekend perfect. I enjoyed catching up with everyone and meeting new Brothers also!

The Capital extraction was an adventure as always when 2 or more ODSS members hit the road. But the ride home from one awesome shop and repairing two trucks on the spot was one of the highlights.
