2 of the 3 car events I attend each year just happened. 10/14 was the Old Car Picnic, started by a park gardener, been going on for 34 years right on the grass at Speedway Meadows in Golden Gate Park San Francisco, truly a fun event draws hundreds of entrants from all over the Bay Area, everything represented, low riders, motorcycles, trucks, muscle, imports, and a few Stovebolts. Brought a bbq and made a day of it. Funny the F..rd next to me had lots of folks checking out the adventure camper, we traded bbq, he did a nice home made wild boar sausage, and tri tip! I just brought sausage᠁.and fresh sourdough French bread᠁.
9/24 was the 16th year for the car show I put on in conjunction with the Cole Valley Street Fair, 20 entrants, the street fair is a fun family event in my little San Francisco neighborhood .
BTW:unlike how the news portrays it, much of San Francisco is great little neighborhoods, locals consider each as their own little town᠁᠁ (and yes, city politics are sometimes screwy᠁.)
Cool Stuff, Neighborhood events are the best. There's a show here in town every year in conjunction with an annual event called the Bear Paw Festival. I need to take my truck to that show next year (Lord willing and the creek don't rise) and show up the guys who buy a new Corvette and enter it into the show.

We have 2 shows on the same weekend tied to the fact that James Dean was born in Marion Indiana. Because his family split up and he moved 20 miles away the shows are in Fairmount, In, where he went to school But there was a dispute years ago between two car clubs so it split again and one is in Fairmount and the other one is in Gas, City a few miles away. Between the two there can be upwards of 4000 entries. This year the weather was great but some years it is too hot and others you need a heavy coat. BTW this is the first year I did not go to either, parking at one is a mess and at 80 I don't walk as well as I once did, at the other, a friend lives a block from the show but it is still a difficult walk and to go alone is no fun and she had to work.
