I feel a little better. There are no FoMoCo markings on it at all. 1100 lbs. of iron and 277hp at 4300 rpm with I think 465 lbs of torque. 3-5 mpg also.Oh well could be worse.........not!

Nothing would slow it down except a gas station. 534 cubes...a 5 + 4 speed...man that is what truckin is all about. | | | | | Joined: Jul 2006 Posts: 187 Wrench Fetcher | | Wrench Fetcher Joined: Jul 2006 Posts: 187 | Talked to my brother this last Sunday, he builds engines for a living. He said get rid of the F**d and maybe think of putting in a late model diesel and 5-speed. Not a bad idea. The 51' is in excellent shape and it's a dump bed also.I'll have to look up the posts on the diesel conversions I've read here.....Rick

It shrunk the profit margin significantly, and gas was 35 cents per gallon! If it wasn't so heavy, I would have dropped it overboard. The mounts are made very crudely and must weigh as much as the engine. This big 640 is actually squatting in the front more than normal, I'm going to post the full weight of engine and trans plus mounts when I pull this pig out. Good thing I've got 10 ton overhead cranes at the shop

I'ts to much to take. I've even had to secretly go to one of THOSE sites to find the firing order. The shame!.You know what,NOTHING compares to this site anywhere in the world, They are strange folks over there. I never joined in, I just stole info to get this beastie home. Just 25 short miles and then I can start the transplant. I got your E-mail and I hope your getting mine. I think now a 454 would be the ticket, no diesel....Rick
