Put it in ( with the clutch plate properly oriented) as well as the transmission. I tightened it cross-wise so equal pressure. Linkage was hooked up but clutch wouldn’t work. Took trans, pressure plate and clutch disk out. Double checked the disk- it was oriented correctly. Looked more closely at the pressure plate. Seems that the “fingers” are higher than the original one. Also, the clutch disk had 5 springs instead of 6 on the original. Could this be a car pressure plate/clutch setup? If so, would this explain why it does not work. | | | | | Joined: May 2015 Posts: 11,164 Housekeeping (Moderator) Making a Stovebolt Bed & Paint and Body Shop Forums | | Housekeeping (Moderator) Making a Stovebolt Bed & Paint and Body Shop Forums Joined: May 2015 Posts: 11,164 | When you say it wouldn't work, did it not release or did it not engage?
It may be a throwout bearing issue. Did one come with the kit?
Have you checked the adjustment of the pedal linkage and the clutch fork?

Checked the pedal linkage adjustment. | | | | | Joined: Jul 2000 Posts: 2,204 Insomniac | | Insomniac Joined: Jul 2000 Posts: 2,204 | After I bought the wrong clutch kit, I called Perfection Clutch's tech support line. The rep told me that there were 2 different throw out bearings. In order to get the correct kit, I needed to measure the bearing.
If you got the wrong bearing in your kit, you can buy the bearing separately.

I have never seen one that the fork would not fit in. I can't help there. It doesn't matter if the disc has a different amount of springs. I believe the car & light truck use the same clutch.
