How do I test a new sending unit. Can I just attached the positive to the center post and then clip on the base with the ground. Move the float and see if the ohms change.

I am in the habit of testing the sending unit in the truck where I can watch the
needle move E to F.

Tested this one and it reads just like it should.. 0 to 30 ohm from empty to full.. now I'll swap it out with the old (new) one and see if the gauge works..

I am in the habit of testing the sending unit in the truck where I can watch the
needle move E to F. Only if the float reaches all the way to the bottom of the tank and all the way to the top of the tank. Anywhere in between and you'll get approximations of fuel level. Adjust your float arm if necessary to accomplish this.

With all 3 of my tanks under frame, accessing the sending unit
after installation is hard to do sometimes. Thanks Otto!
