i'm pitting disk brakes on a 52 chevy pickup front straight axle i have a kit for the intermediate gm calipers and rotors (bought this kit and parts years ago). the problem is when i put the rotor on the pickup spindle ( original pickup spindle) it doesn't go on far enough lacks about an 3/4 -1 inch of fitting right. the bearings are seated correct and the rotor spins as it should. another weird thing when i tighten the spindle nut down it screws on to far and the cotter pin doesn't hold the nut. i'm wondering if i should be useing the modified spindle sold by Speedway and others https://www.speedwaymotors.com/Speedway-1949-1954-Chevy-Car-Modified-Spindles-w-King-Pin does anyone know anything about these, ARE they a direct fit to the pickup axle (kingpin size)? the OEM pickup spindles just seem to be to long. as you can see in the pictures thee rotor is out to far.and the caliper doesn't line up right.
THANKS Jay D.

If you are using replacement roller brgs. You need to remove the race for ball brgs that slides over the spindle.

I used a similar kit.

It looks like the bearing adaptor is on the wrong side of the rotor. The adaptor should be the first thing that goes on the spindle. Have a look at this:

Gord, yes i did put the sleeve on first. i have something wrong with the parts or part i have. i'm useing the stock truck spindle and the sleeve with a Camaro brake rotor and bearings. the rotor goes on, bearings fit right. but the rotor goes on to far i can't tighten it up with the nut all the way tight. i stiil have about 1/8 slop ( wheel moves back and forth). + everything is to far out my tires are right out to the lip on the fender. THANKS Jay D.

Maybe you have the wrong kit - seems like there are spacers missing.
What's going on with the steering arm? That's not stock.
I believe that the spindle requires 2 washers under the castle nut. The original one and a spacer washer. That should fix the slop.

I took a picture of what I have.

I think the sleeve is not seated all the way. It needs to be pressed all the way on aand there is a gap in your pictures.

Compared to the gap that fibinachu pointed out, how much farther would the disk have to move inward for the caliper to fit? That gap looks fairly large.

There are two adapters for the inner bearing. You have the wrong one. There is one about half as thick where the seal rides. That happened to me several years ago.
Mine also had some spacers for the caliper bracket. Notice your bolts have quite a bit of thread showing.
