On my 59 panels truck 1/2 ton, I would like to replace the original sway bar with a new one. I have a new one. Has anyone done this and can tell me what to expect. I am concerned about the shock mounts and the sway bar that runs under them now. This is what I want to replace. Off another panel (58) Both the same.

Looking more closely and looking at a 58 truck with this sway bar on, the shock mount has a bolted plate underneath on each that hold in place the factory sway bar and riveted frame mount for the pivot arm. Looks like I can mount the new sway bar plate on the frame forward of the riveted mount and mount the bar to the axle. This kit

Thats the same kit I used. It does make a difference!! Just got it on and drove on some curves. Nice!! All I had to do was cut 1/3 inch of the corner of the shock mount. Here.....

To add... there appears to be 2 different shock mounts. One has a square end to accommodate the sway bar. The other slanted. Hole for the shock is in the same location for both. Maybe the diameter of the sway bar off high. Both my 58 and 59 panel trucks have the sway bar and the square end mount. My 58 stepside has the slanted end version. I'm not sure if it came with a factory sway bar or not.

your post made me laugh. I have 2 small dogs that shed like crazy & they chase each other under the 59. Thus their hair is everywhere.
