After removing the cap & wires he picked the old one up & set the new one down in. "Make Shure it drops all the way down" which it did. I used to wish it was that easy.
24 out of 25 times they do not mesh with the oil pump without turning the engine. He did not say anything about lining up the position of the rotor.

On the early Chevy V8s that could cut off oil flow to the hydraulic valve lifters on one cylinder bank, since the distributor housing had a flat spot that had to line up with the oil gallery for that side. If the plug wires and dizzy housing were clocked incorrectly, the oil gallery for the passenger's side could get restricted. Later models got a full groove around the housing instead of the milled area.
