I'm reinstalling the restored gauges and dash panel in a 1959 GMC 100. I've got about everything connected except the single wire that attaches to 12+. I see the Gray wire coming out of the headlight switch that turns the parking lights on that's where I need the back gauge panel lighting to come on- with the parking lights and headlights. Where would I physically connect the gauge bulb 12V+ wire to that? I can't seem to remove the headlight switch to get a good look at things and maybe strip a section of wire to tap into. There is supposed to be a "button" on top of the switch to all removal of the knob, but I can see (with a mirror) and feel that there is no button there to be found. Anybody ever come up against this problem? Thanks

You don't want to connect the dash lights to the parking lights because the parking lights go out when you turn on the headlights. There is a separate terminal on the headlight switch that runs through the dimmer on the switch.

Picture of the switch here. Connect dash lights to the PL connector and the parking lights to the PK connector.

The "button" is on the opposite side of the switch from the picture shown above. It is about 1/4" in diameter and does not move far.

Even though the maintenance manual says to remove and tape the "bat" lead on the switch, I'd start by removing the negative battery cable.
