Hi.
Quick introduction. I recently inherited my Dad's '59 Chevy truck that he bought in 1974. He stripped it almost to the frame in 2011 and was rebuilding it for the second time when he got sick. He got it mostly bolted back together with the help of friends before he died. That still leaves a lot of work for me to do. One of the issues I have to deal with is the vent windows. They will not close. A local glass company cut the glass and Dad said they cut them wrong. I took one window apart and I don't see how the glass company could have warped the frame without breaking the glass or destroying the frame. I believe something is wrong with weatherstripping. It appears to be too thick. He bought the weatherstripping from Tuckers in 2013 and the part number on the receipt (yes he kept all the receipts) is correct for the application. I have read complaints of reproduction replacement vent windows not fitting. Has anyone had any experience with the weatherstripping not fitting correctly? Any close-up pictures of a closed vent window would be appreciated.

First off Welcome to Stovebolt!

Since your post primarily deals asking for help on your vent windows, I have moved your post over to the Doors forum as the better place for further discussion and help on your topic.

Am sure others will chime in soon to offer some help on the subject.

While you are waiting on some replies, maybe you would consider introducing yourself and your truck to everyone in the welcome Centre. You can re-introduce yourself in there and tell us about you, your Dad and the truck. Don't forget to add some pictures as we do love to see what you have.

No matter what era truck, rubber/weather stripping always seems to be a hit and miss type of deal. Steele Rubber usually gets a higher grade than most.

Thanks. That is good information. I know many of the vendors source reproduction parts from the same place so I was nervous to blindly order from another vendor.

I ordered the weatherstripping from Steele and knew right out of the box that it was better made. It was cut better and had the dimples like the original did. I have gotten one window done and it looks and works great!. Thanks for the recommendation.
