Still working on the interior sheet metal of my 1953 3100. I'm ready to mount the fire extinguiser. My current thought is to mount it on its side, in the middle of the seat riser. Is there a better place to mount it or one that is mandated? I'm trying to have it accessible to both the driver and passenger, while not interfering with driving the truck. Let me know and pics would be awesome!
That’s a really good topic. My 1951’s fire extinguisher is sitting in the bed in the milk crate if spare fluids and tools I keep with me.
I’d like to find a spot in the cab that is extremely accessible but also some what hidden, while not interfering with what is already pretty limited foot room.
Under the seat would be very hidden, but not accessible enough in a true emergency. I’ve never taken the time to devote thought to the best possible location.

I don’t know if what I’m about to suggest is even possible or feasible. Has anyone looked into filling a vintage/period extinguisher with whatever the modern rated material would be? Probably not something I would invest the effort into. Just curious.
I have. I tried to buy one at auction but wasn't paying attention and lost it. Some are just operated with a hand pump and filled with Carbon Tetrachloride.
I think I should point out that carrying a standard fire extinguisher like those you see laying on the ground in front of the driver side tire at car shows will be next to useless if you actually have a fire in your vehicle.
I've always carried fire extinguishers in every vehicle I've ever owned since I had an under-hood fire on a '68 Camaro in college. I was at home and put it out with a big blanket that was in the garage.
A couple years ago I had an electrical fire in a vehicle. The fire extinguisher like the one in your photo will last about 10 seconds before being completely emptied. After that, if the fire isn't out, you're out of luck.
I'd suggest carrying a fire blanket instead of, or in addition to, the essentially useless fire extinguisher.

Mine is Halon, might be useless, but its better then a T-shirt, plus you can't shoot through hood louvers with a blanket. Mine is more for passengers getting out and away from the fire, the truck isn't worth getting hurt trying to save it.

Current practice on the fleet, mount somewhere on the passenger side. Reason being, in a panic, we don't want someone running in to traffic to grab the extinguisher.
The old school fire extinguisher was mounted near the heater back in the day in this old county road department truck. It is non-working and only serves as a conversation piece. My working modern fire extinguisher rides in the old Remington 12 gauge crate back in the bed.
