I have a '66 I6-250, I just installed a 700R4 in it. Cable is too short. Will an extension like the one listed below at Summit work in the old girl? https://www.summitracing.com/parts/dak-130011

Why not just buy a cable/housing assembly for a long wheelbase truck of some sort that's a few inches longer than the one you have? That would probably be more reliable, and not much more costly than patching on what you have. Jerry

I just hate the thought of having to remove the cluster....maybe I won't have too. I guess I could just purchase a new one.

In fact I think in most cases you disconnect the cable at the speedo before you can pull the cluster out.
