Hello. New to Big bolts & this group. Got a 1967 Chevy C-50 dump truck a couple of weeks ago. Drove her 100 miles to my location. Next day was sett'in to trouble shoot rear brakes & found that both U-bolts on driver side rear axle were snapped (one towards front/ other towards back). Actually one of the broken U-bolt is really a broken ear on the botom axle plate. Just barely made it back here that day. Ain't drive'in her `till that's fixed of course. After lots of cleaning the bottom of the plate, I think it reads #3765663. The truck has a 2 over 4, w/ air lines running into the pumpkin. The pumpkin housing has no bolts in the back. There's 12 hex bolts on the drive shaft side. Can anyone tell me what make/model (etc) the rear axle is? Thank you.

you need a shop manual - there's corporate and eaton 2spd rears - they both seem to be electric shift, but the eaton is said to be an option for 60 series

No bolts in the rear of housing makes it a Timken
(Rockwell) rear end..Those aren't air lines, you
have a vacuum shift 2 spd..as for the broken U bolts, I would they might have gotten a little loose
and the axle worked back and forth..There should be
a model # on the plate as well as a name...

The shop manual describes the "Drive Line Rear Axle (Corporation) 2 Speed". "Corporation" must be the "driveline type", Whereas; Timkin/ Rockwell obviously the manufacturer(s). Also; "vacuum" (not "air") is correct.
Please correct me if I got any of that wrong.
From looking closely at the axle plate's broken ear & U-bolts, it appears that 40 years of rust/ rot took it's toll (& probably loosening too). I learned that these plates' design are great for collecting dirt & water in top at the U-bolt areas. Definitely worth a periodic check & clean.
Thanx.
