As the title says a new generator is being shipped to me.
I never had to remove and reinstall a generator pulley.
So my question is what do I need to know how to R & R the generator's pulley.

Same for installing it on the new generator. I suppose you could grab the pulley with a giant pair of water pump pliers to get the nut off, but that would bugger up the pulley. Or you could pull each one apart and clamp the armature in a vice, but why do that when the impact wrench method works so well?

The vendor said to wrap an old fan belt around the pulley and squeeze it tight and use an impact wrench.

It'll likely just zip the nut right off. The shaft might spin a bit, but that's not a big deal.
