My 1956 3800 Chevy, single rear wheel truck, has no hub caps. The 19.5 wheels have the tabs to hold the caps. Does someone have a picture of what the factory hub caps look like? Also the outer diameter measurement?

What factory color would the 235 engine be painted? The previous own repainted the valve cover and the oil bath air cleaner blue.

I also need a step side bed tailgate. Am I right in assuming any Chevy gate from 1956 to 1986 are the same, or were there size changes? I understand the GMC logo stamping changed, but all the Chevy's appear to be the same.

Thank you Peggy and Ron. I was able to buy hub caps, all 5, from another forum member. They are the wrong year, as stated by the seller, but I am happy to have that set that fits. Probably only members of this forum would know they are from a 1955 and not for the '56.

Looking at many restored trucks from the 1950's, very few have the original wheels and tires. If I ever get this old truck finished and sitting a a show, I'll have to commend anyone that spots they are wrong. That being said, if for some crazy reason someone here has a set of 1956 hub caps on their 1955, want to swap?

Well I've had a lot going on and the '56 has been on the back burner. I am making some progress. Since you asked here are some pictures:

That is a great looking truck. Although we are in the minority on this forum, I much prefer the Task Force trucks over the ADs. My '56 3800 is a flat bed with dual 19.5 wheels.
