I’m just starting to get some things straightened out in the cab of our new 3100, I have delete plate, but can’t see how it should attach. The plate came with the truck. I can make a clip of some sort to fix in the radio opening but I thought there would be a boughten part that is made for that. And my searching I haven’t come across it. We are still building a house so I don’t get much time on this truck yet but I want to keep it drivable until I actually start in to do restoration!

We took the delete plate off when we painted the cab. I think we either broke the clips or lost them in the process. I drilled two holes in the plate and installed it with two cad plated screws. Used large washer and lock nut behind the dash.

(In my collection, I had some AN525 washer head screws that worked nicely)

I am sure you could find a trim clip to fit without drilling holes.

I must have had the same issue you had only years ago . I made up this .they slide into the back slots.

Just a piece of tin with a cut off bolt brazed to the tin

Paint dripping over the back on the longer edge is a dead giveaway. Gravity doesn’t lie. 😉

My 2 cents. I used panel magnets for delete plate. Very strong. I do not think it will move. I do wish I had the bolt stud and nut method though.

Double backed tape would probably do it too.

I'd fab up a box of sorts where the radio was. Use magnets or Velcro etc for the delete plate so you can have access to your new hiding place, for registration papers, a couple wrenches, or whatever. Space in old trucks is valuable, use it. 🤔

On both my 54 trucks the plate was held on by two bent spring steel clips. They slide in from a gap in the center of the plate. When positioned correctly you push them into the holes on the dash. The material and the design of the clip hold the plate tight. One truck is Canadian the other was built in Los Angeles.

Quite obvious now that I’ve seen them!
I would probably assume them to be door panel attachment clips or some such,
if I saw them. So that sure answers my original question.

I will try and see if they might be available as a replacement part…..
I’m contemplating fabricating something in the clip line for it, otherwise.
Or a concealed box as Glenn says.
By the way, the back of that delete plate. It looks amazingly caked up with something.
Was the truck used in a sorghum mill? 😉
