1939 Chevy JD truck, 216, 3 speed transmission. I get clutch chatter in first gear sometimes when taking off, engine warm. Never in 2nd or 3rd. New clutch and pressure plate. Champ made an anti clutch chatter kit back in the day. Do any of you folks have input on this issue? The rear motor mounts have been replaced.

I just replaced the front motor mount on mine hoping that will correct the 1st gear chatter and vibrations I was getting.

Did it work? Or do you know yet?

Did you have the flywheel refaced during the clutch replacement job?

No Jerry I did not. I believe that may very well be my problem. Would I need to have both the flywheel and pressure plate refaced?

If you only changed the clutch disc, you only did one third of the job. I always buy a rebuilt clutch and pressure plate, change the throwout bearing and the pilot bushing, and get the flywheel resurfaced. "Buy once- - - -cry once!"

I did what HRL suggests, new clutch disk, pressure plate, pilot, throwout and refaced the flyweel, smooth as silk for the last 4-5 years.

I replaced everything, but I didn't have the flywheel resurfaced.

Might not be good news, sorry. but lIke has already been noted, that is most likely the cause.

You need that flywheel surface as flat as possible for the clutch disk to grab properly and/or have any longevity.
The more it slips(chatters) the more hot spots will be created.

When I take care of the flywheel, would I need to replace the pressure plate and clutch. About 1,000 miles on these items now and almost all of it highway driving.

I wouldn't.
Look for any grease/oil and clean off of all surfaces and adjust it proper as you go back.
