Another dumb question--does anyone have a picture of what is necessary to hook up the throttle cable to the Rochester carb linkage on a '50 216? My cable fall just a little bit short of the accelerator rod, and I'm guessing that sometime in the past 73 years some of the linkage has gone AWOL. Don't really need the throttle cable, but would just like to have it looking original. Thanks in advance for any help.

If you have a copy of the Factory Assembly Manual, Check Section 6, Sheet 5.01

That should show you if you've got all the bits to hook up the throttle cable.

I'll post a picture of mine hooked to a Carter. It might be similar.

The verticle cable is the throttle and is held in place by a little bracket on the carburetor that clamps the choke cable as well as the throttle cable in place.

Do you mean that you can't just swap a YF carb for a Rochester B or vice versa without changing the entire linkage? I thought the YF was developed to be a bolt on replacement for the Rochester.

Yes, I know. That;s why I posted the photo of the throttle cable and choke cable and the bracket that holds them in place on my truck. I figure the Rochester is probably similar.

Here's some photo's of the throttle and choke cable on my Rochester B . Note that you need to have the correct bracket . It took me awhile to find one. How about you posting a pic of what your setup looks like. It might help us , help you? Your post seemed to address the cable being too short to reached the accelerator rod, maybe you can remove the cable from the clamp, snip off the cable shield covering a short length and re-install it. This might sound silly, but be sure to pull the cable wire out of the cable shield and don't try to trim the cable with the cable wire still inside the length your trying to remove. I've found a hacksaw works great to cut the cable shield. I apologize if it seems like I'm assuming you don't know how to work with these types of cables, but actually I don't , so I'm attempting to cover all the bases. Hope this helps. Thanks Ron & Otto for the comeback. After looking at the carb, all the bracketry is on the carb--the problem is that the throttle wire is not long enough to go through the hole in the accelaratot rod. The throttle cable jacket is stretched out as far as it will go; I'm guessing that somewhere down the road, the wire got broken at the point where it went through the accelerator rod. Soo, new throttle cable and stop looks like it will solve the issue. Once again, thanks, guys.

That's good that you have the bracket. I bought new throttle and choke cables from National Parts Depot. $20 each and good quality. They are about a foot longer than needed so it gives you options for routing them. They come in maroon or black.

Don't forget to pull the cable out of the sleeve when you cut the sleeve to length!

Good to know. I was worried that finding a cable that was long enough would be a problem, since it seems that most parts are made to "close enough" specs. A new cable and a cable stop and I am in business! Thanks for the info.
