This afternoon, for the first time since Oct 05 the 47 truck moved under its own power. What a great day. Dennis and I drove it up and down the road in front of my house. It runs perfectly, but dont have many brakes, as the master cylinder took a crap on us , and the new one isnt here yet. Shifting the old style rock-crusher tranny takes some getting used to, but it shifted real smooth. Did a small burn out the first time i went forward. That 261 engine just has to much power. Went though the truck later to find some noises we heard on the test, tightened up some things. Tomorrow morning I load it up on the trailer for its exhaust shop trip, then we can put the doors, front fenders and hood on it. Its a blast to drive a freshly built big truck down the road, I'd advise everyone to do so, and soon.

Jeff-
Kudos on your restroration work! Is there anything sweeter than an off-the-frame restoration job? I think not.
Looking at the pics of your truck just gets me so fired up to do another project!
If anybody spots a bargain priced '57 6400 anywhere let me know, it might become my next victim...

Well we now have a new custom exhaust. The truck operated flawlessly, other than having very little braking. Drove it up on the trailer, unloaded it at the shop, up on their lift, and back on the trailer with zero trouble. Its so quite you cant here the motor run sitting in the cab, with no doors on. Now we can get on with the fun of mounting the outer fenders, doors and hood. Then its into storage while i clean out the shop, build some new equipment, and bring the 60 C-30 in to see if we can get it running(dont let Dennis see this post, he thinks we're starting on the bed next.)

Heres some from the day i went to the muffler shop. Was a little frosty out and I couldnt load it tail first like i planned. Also i had no brakes to speak of, do to the new master failing.

Our parts house was able to get me this:

It a genuine Hurst shifter boot for a round shafted tranny. Not an orginal item, but it looks to good to leave off. The fit is perfect, i high recommend all big bolts get one. Cheap at around $25. Now i just have to find one for the brake handel that matches it.
