I think there's a locating dimple/marks accessible through the kick panel plate.

There are holes in the backing sheet metal up under the dash on the right side. Just drill from the inside thru those holes. I need to drill those too, but not sure if my drill motor will fit in there. The glove box liner may have to come out for good access.

I know this is hard to believe, and very lucky, but back in 2015 when I got my ‘57 3200, I did not know the backing sheet metal had pre-drilled and tapped holes for a passenger mirror. Therefore, I very carefully made a paper template on the drivers side and transferred it to the passenger side. Just by coincidence, and a surprise to me, I hit one of the holes that I didn’t know were there. You can see my penciled mirror bracket outline in the attached photo. If memory serves me correctly, I did drill the other 2 from the inside.

You did some really good measuring on somebody else's truck!

No, just a template from the drivers door including the door edge for placement. And luck. I taped the template on, center punched that one hole, drilled it, then lightly screwed on the mirror and drew the perimeter.

I use an automatic center punch from the inside, in the middle of the hole in the backing plate. This tool has a half dollar diameter handle end on it. All you do is push firmly on it and it goes "Clunk" and makes a dent. You may have to do it a few times until you see a pimple on the outside. I them use the punch to make a dimple out of the pimple amd drill the hole for the 1/4" bolts.
