Has anyone used the AD-S10 Kit from https://www.coffeeandcustoms.com/ad-s10-kit--fab-parts.html

Found it looking through the internet and looks like a good kit with lots of adjustment for those wishing to do an S-10 frame swap. He’s a one man show who also builds/modifies mostly 48-55.1 trucks. I’m thinking of going this route and was looking at the code 504 kits but think I might try this one instead. Would like to hear if anyone’s tried it and their thoughts.

I have not seen this one before. To be honest, the guy sounds kind of sketchy to me. The way he makes it adjustable by having everything be slotted in multiple axis sounds good on paper. It would be a nightmare to get all of different pieces lined up and even across the whole frame. I would want to weld them together for the final installation as well.

I looked seriously at the Code 504 kit until a guy I know bought the EZ-Chassis kit:
https://www.e-zchassisswaps.com/2

I was very impressed with it and ended up calling Ed and talking to him for a while about their kits. That is the kit I want to get. My long term plan is to use their kit to do a GMT800 swap for my 58. That is a long term and expensive enough project that I am not ready to start it yet though.

While at Mongo's this past year he showed us two S10 Chassis conversions. One was a Code504 and the other was an EZ-Chassis, the difference was night and day. The EZ-Chassis was much better built and the fit was spot on. I have used a Code504 kit and really wasn't happy with the results, it took a lot of modifying to get a good fit, the instruction were very generic as well.

My 46-47 is done with an EZ swap. It went great with help from Ed. If you look at the site under 41-46 chevy trucks you will be looking at my truck.

That’s a beautiful truck!

I looked at their web sit and didn’t see very much detail. Only what’s in the kit with no pictures of the kit or the instructions. Don’t see anything on YouTube or the internet for installs either. Would help to see that. But I’m sure you wouldn’t be endorsing the kit if you weren’t happy with it. Thank you for the input.

If you call or email Ed, he will send you a bunch of pictures. The ones he sent me are the GMT800 TF conversion so they are not sure relevant to your application, but I can share them if you like.

Thank you gentlemen for your input! I called and spoke with Ed a few times and he is a very knowledgeable and great to talk to. I ended up ordering one of there kits for my 53 and looking forward to it. Unfortunately the 53 is in far Northern California at the moment and they just got 4-5 feet of snow and more on the way, going to be awhile before I can bring it home.

Thanks again!

Glad you found a solution that works for you.

You should give me a call when you get ready to work on it. I'd be interested in lending a hand on the assembly.

Are you going to keep the S10 engine or swap it out for an LS or SBC?

One more unsolicited opinion. My 54 is on the original frame but is lowered by a Pacer front-end and modified rear springs. Here

That is one heck of a truck!! Thank you for the pics!

Fibonachu, I sure will. Truck has 5 feet of snow on it now with 1-2 more coming in next 2 days so might be until spring hits a bit. I’m going to leave the 4.3 in for now. It runs and drives just fine but not going to win a race! Went to the old Jalopy Jungle in Nampa and picked up a rearend from a 99 4wd blazer 3.73 gears and disc brakes and an older column and pedals that Ed said I’ll need for the swap. I’ll get a tune up on it and oil change and get it running smooth before the swap.

By the way, the rear end Is a 1979 Nova with what I think are 2.73 gears. I can drive all day on the interstate at 70 mph with the 5-speed at just over 2000 rpm.

Did your donor have rear disks? I don't remember if you said.

If not, you will need a disk/disk master cylinder too.

What are you using for a brake pedal mount? I ended up deciding to go with the CPP one for my build. There are cheaper ones but it had the mount to keep the stock e-brake linkage under the dash.

I grabbed a rearend from a 1999 4wd blazer(wider as indicated for swap) with disc brakes(3.73 gear) and I will need a master from that same year and thinking same year portioning valve. Ed told me to get a 94 or older column and brackets for brake and throttle as the kit comes with the proper mounts for it same with booster to mount to my cab. It was cold when I grabbed everything and got a standard column and not an automatic column so need to go back and swap that out.

I’m not that great with wiring and I know I’ll need to trim down the factory wiring harness and I’m looking into what I can trim out without crippling the motor/trans. Also figuring out if there’s a way to adapt the gauges without spending a fortune.

It all pretty much research now until I can pick up the truck as it’s still snow and bad weather where it is. I still need to clear up room in the shop and weighing options for that(need to sell a couple cars).
