The Stovebolt Site Forums The Shop Area Paint and Body Shop Interior Paint

I've seen a lot of 47-54 trucks where interior is painted same color as the exterior and many where interior is a basic gray paint or something else different from exterior. Curious if original trucks had similar paint schemes and, if so, was it considered a delux model if interior painted same as exterior?

Original paint scheme was that gray/brown that you see allot. Interiors that were painted the color of the truck are not how they came from the factory.

Early AD pickups thru '52 used a color called Medium Tan Metallichrome, a semi gloss, slightly metallic color. In 53, GM went to a color called Sheen Gray Poly, and in 54-55 a color called Pearl Gray


Here are a couple of photos of repainted doors that are real close to the original color for 47-52. I bought from Jim Carter and needed to lighten it a bit to match the original parts on my truck that still had paint on them. The two pics had a bit different lighting so look different.

Like Phil said, any truck interior painted exterior color wasn't factory.

The interesting thing about the original interior paint is that it changes color like a chameleon depending on the angle which it is viewed and the light source.
