Does anyone sell lowering springs for the front of the 41-46 AK series trucks, 1/2 ton. I see several vendors selling them for the 47-55 AD trucks, but searches don’t show any for the 41-46.

???

Sorry, I don't know if a 46 AK is 1/2, 3/4 or 1 ton, but Eaton Detroit Spring can make them all.

I had Eaton make new springs for '37 1/2 ton. I was after a soft ride, not so much lowered, but it ended up being lowed. I had to add longer shackle plates in the front to raise it back up. You will find like I did with the spring set under the frame, there will be little room for spring travel with lower springs. Mine would bottom out pretty easy. I had stock springs, 7 leafs per side, then removed every other leaf starting from bottom up ending up with 4 total. Ride was much softer, truck sat lower, but I was uneasy about the longevity of this setup. My spring were badly worn and I had to do some grinding on the worn steps so they would slide against each other. This grinding surely weakened them, but I used them for four or five years before getting new, custom made springs. I sleep easier knowing the axle isn't going come out from under it now.

I had pretty good springs and like Joe I pulled a couple which made the spring pac level ( you dont want to have them bend beyond level), been good for several years. Also added the factory sway bar and tube shocks, dropped axle.
