We're thinking around mid may to avoid the chances of poor weather , but dates are open to suggestions so as not to clash with other events and we are flexible on the number of days as well . We are semi rural but still have room for quite a few tents in the back yard and a few campers in the driveway . We are curious to hear if there is any interest and would appreciate any input coming our way .
Thanks John

Man, this would be a first with a Stovebolt event in Canada!! Also good to see some more action in the Great Lakes Bolters!! You've got good people in your Forum who have some experience in GABfests!! Let us know how we can help.

YES, there is interest...Dad and I are in! You know we are up for a good Stovebolt gathering even if it's international! My initial thought would be to vote for the weekend of May 6th-7th. (Possibly travel in Thursday the 4th with travel home on Sunday the 7th) Between personal and work commitments, Mid to late May gets busy here. --Mother's Day Sunday May14th --Indy 500 Qualifying May 20th-21st --Indy 500 Sunday May 28th --Memorial Day May 29th
Totally understand that this is just one person's vote, so would love to hear from the rest of the group.
Thank you again for getting this started! --Tom | | | | Joined: Apr 2004 Posts: 5,139 Authorized Pest | Authorized Pest Joined: Apr 2004 Posts: 5,139 | John, Tom -
This is GREAT!! I didn't really think about it being: "Stovebolt gathering even if it's international!" That's sooo cool!
Plenty of time to plan, and "hear from the rest of the group."
If you need some "space" in the GL forum (like a sub-forum geared just for the GABfest - or whatever cool name you want to give it), we can make that happen.
This is GREAT!!

Went to Kansas City in sept of 22 good time with bolters there. Was 869 mile round trip, got a little lost in KC but the neighbors coached me on in to Mongo's. So will wait to see, never been to Canada yet, wonder if it takes a passport to cross over I guess we'll wait to see what happens next. | | | | Joined: Oct 2015 Posts: 402 'Bolter | 'Bolter Joined: Oct 2015 Posts: 402 | I needed a passport to both enter the USA. and to enter Canada on returning home . While in the USA. I heard of something of an advanced drivers license which might double as a passport as well but am not sure of the details . Someone with more knowledge on this might chime in . I hope to be driving through Illinois in the second half of March , maybe we can hook up for coffee and discuss what we have learned about the passport issue .

It has embedded info in it that can be read electronically. Not sure if it works for crossing into Canada, but will soon be required (or a passport) for air travel in the US. For entry into CanadaUS Border requirements (not as clear as Canada's info)

It allows us to drive to and from Canada.
I missed Thanksgiving Day in Canada October 10 so I will now say Happy Thanksgiving to all my Canadian friends and relatives and to the rest of us on this Day. I am thankful for all my Stovebolt friends and their families who allow us to get together in various places throughout the year. I am looking forward to Spring in Canada with John and Marie. | | | | Joined: Feb 2001 Posts: 4,109 'Bolter | 'Bolter Joined: Feb 2001 Posts: 4,109 | Do I need a passport? 2) if you get into Canada without a passport, you will then have a second problem, getting back into the USA without your USA passport yeah they have to eventually let you return, but maybe not after a long detainment to decide you really are who you say you are
perhaps getting the passport is best as to not set yourself up for the added travel anxiety or hassles. -s | | | | Joined: Sep 2010 Posts: 1,955 'Bolter | 'Bolter Joined: Sep 2010 Posts: 1,955 | You would need a passport ,I think the enhanced drivers licence was cancelled a few years back in Ontario .

We have now considering the weekend of the 10th of June to hopefully end up with better weather . Any comments or suggestions would be appreciated .
