I need 2 rear break return springs It is for a 59 chev 1.5 ton it has 2 cyls per wheel I have been searching but cannot find any.
lmc truck or NAPA stores do not carry them
I did a search in the forums and found someone who has the same problem. But there was no answer.[ frank 9-02-05 ] I dont know if he has found them or not

Hy bruce j. could you please tell us the drum diameter I may be able to come up with a number that way, shoe width also please.

Brake shoes are 4 inchs across. Drum 15 inches inside diameter. Car Quest had found some but they were the wrong ones

Hy bruce j, I think the set your looking for is United part number 80164 there are 8 springs in that set 2 3/4" effective length, hope that helps.

3b I put those numbers in on the napa site and they should a pic. but they looked to small.
Mine come in 2 sizes 4 1/4 inch and 3/3/4.
I posted some pics on the webshotes site.
But I did email napa with what I need and I am now waiting for a reply.
A junk yard in Cal. said they have them. $10.00 each now i need 3of them. Going to wait for napa to see if they have a kit. But if they dont ill call them.

sounds like a good place to spend a vaction. Just have to talk my wife into it. After she gets over the amount of money i've spent just on the breaks. I was looking at the truck bed looks like i could put a small pump tent and cooking stove on it. if she sends me packing.
I havent told about the inner wheel bearing for the front wheel yet. $135.00. I just about lost it on that one

They are in our neighboring city (Fresno) and I have delt with them before. Very knowledgable, and they have had some stuff over the years. I have delt with 60's camaros for many years. The problem with them for me has been price. They always ran about double what I was expecting for things I was looking for regarding Camaros. I haven't seen what they have either. It is a come to the counter type situation. I would rather "hunt".

We had a better place called "Romo's auto wrecking". You guys would have loved it. Probably about 15 acres of stuff, 90 percent old....including Chevy trucks and they encouraged "hunting". They got shut down by the city for new developement. Most of the stuff is still there, but locked up tighter than a drum. I rubberneck every time we drive by the place....now THAT was your previous vacation spot!

I,ve got some but they measure 7" long.

Hy bruce j, I did some more research, according to my parts book 58 was the last year that had two different length pull back springs, p/n 3694516 green 3 7/16", 3694799 black 3 7/8", after that they used 8 barrel type springs. My United books seem to have missed that fact and only list the barrel type. I'll keep looking, but see if your supplier can cross the o.e.m. numbers I gave you, hope that helps, let us know what happens please.

try midwest brake in indianapolis. they are an old established company with pretty good resources. mostly heavy duty truck parts. the problem with most auto parts stores is---they are auto parts stores.

thanks for all of your input. turners auto wreking are sending me the springs. They were very helpful. sent pics through the email to make sure i got the right ones. 3b I did not cross the o.e.m. numbers yet but plane on doing it when i have time. would still like to find new if i can. thanks again.
