I have a 1953 Chevy truck. I know it has a 1956 235 6 cylinder with 3speed on the column. My question is I don’t know which transmission I have Muncie or Saginaw. It still has the torque tube rear end. I have a picture of the numbers but they don’t seem to match what the specifications say ? My 3 rd gear synchronizer is getting bad. It was ok before I took the trans out for restoration but now it grinds some in only 3rd. I had an old timer trans guy look at it before I put it back in and he said it was good. I see a part for them on chevys of the 40 but I’m not sure it is the right one? Help?
Mike, When I initially put the truck together I just used some 90 wt gear oil but I read on here to use Travellers 90 wt mineral oil so have since changed it but it’s no different.
