I have a 1953 Chevy truck. I know it has a 1956 235 6 cylinder with 3speed on the column. My question is I don’t know which transmission I have Muncie or Saginaw. It still has the torque tube rear end. I have a picture of the numbers but they don’t seem to match what the specifications say ? My 3 rd gear synchronizer is getting bad. It was ok before I took the trans out for restoration but now it grinds some in only 3rd. I had an old timer trans guy look at it before I put it back in and he said it was good. I see a part for them on chevys of the 40 but I’m not sure it is the right one? Help?

When I initially put the truck together I just used some 90 wt gear oil but I read on here to use Travellers 90 wt mineral oil so have since changed it but it’s no different.

Looks to me that transmission is the original to the truck. Cast # 591615 is listed here at the top of the page:
