I assumed that the door jambs should be the exterior color, but as I'm looking at it, I'm wondering if that's correct or not or if it matters. I am painting the interior different color than exterior. 52 GMC

The separation between exterior and outer color was at the weatherstrip on the doors (outer edge), so the door jambs were originally painted interior color. But of course, you can do whatever you'd like.

What Kevin said is accurate. I reviewed many photo's of "original" pictures of trucks interiors door opening and cabs . Here's a couple pictures of my restoration , you can see the interior color on the cab starts where the outside metal wraps to the inside. Doors, similar. I guess you'd call it a transition. I can tell you that the masking was fun. You should be able to "save" the pics , open them and then zoom the pics and see what I'm attempting to convey.

I am very impressed with the job you have done. I just wish the ones with the taskforce trucks would strive to do what you have done. I'd like to see more photos of your restoration.
Is that a single stage paint and what brand?

Kicking self for selling off my Taskforce trucks.
Still looking for an LCF or conventional big bolt in decent shape.

How would the factory have achieved the line? Surely they didn't have a guy in there taping the line.

I don't know the answer , maybe some sort of template? From what I've seen it looks like where the paint stopped at the transition / wrap is not a sharp , perfect line but more of a soft almost like the end of a paint pattern . Maybe one of the other members has a better explanation. What I did was attempt to duplicate what I'd observed.

I'm sure the factory didn't get too anal about it, especially on the doors where the weatherstrip covers the transition. Probably on the jambs, they just masked at the interior corner.
I don't have a picture of an original truck to support that thought, but it sounds like a reasonable shortcut.

Yep, those pics are kind a what I was thinkin. You must have hung the doors to get that wrap around, right?

If question is for me, I did not hang the doors. Had the finished interior color masked, door laying "inside" down on stands. Using gravity feed spray gun painted " up" to do the wrap around door edges.

Yeah Dusty53 that was for you. I was going to paint mine the same way you did yours but I'm thinking now, I could hang them from the lift arms on my auto lift. I would need some pretty stout hooks though. Thanks for the pics. It sure looks like it's coming out real nice

DonBolt, yes Ocean Green exterior. Pearl Beige Interior. The door panels are suppose to be Pearl Beige as well, however, after screwing up the first set and them then being on back order I gave up and went with the "brown" and closest next match for the arm rests. "Perfect" is a real challenge seldom achieved. PM me if you have any specific questions about my project and I'll attempt to provide answers.

So I first painted the interior of the doors, taped and covered the inner panels, then sprayed the body color wrapping it around the edge like shown in Dusty53's pics. The hardest part was getting on my knees and spraying up to get that small lip. Thanks for the input guys!
