Hoping to pull the arm and old seal tonight. My draglink has the slightest tweak in it on the steering box side, almost unnoticeable. Nervous to try and straighten it I think it's cast? Long time reader, first time poster. Been learning on this site for about 5 years already, glad to finally be a part of it.

It really doesn't affect how the vehicle steers if there's a bend in the drag link between the Pitman arm and the driver's side steering knuckle. If you straighten it, you might end up wit the steering wheel spokes off-level. The drag link is forged, not cast, so bending it cold in a press won't hurt anything if you decide you want it to be straight.

Think CV joints, lawn mower transmissions, or John Deere corn head grease. It's a really thick oil that flows in on itself yet acts like grease. You can use 90w & gun grease in a 50/50 mix. Straight 90W is not going to stay put even with a new seal unless you have new bushings and no shaft wear.

I'll run to farm supply after work tomorrow and pick up some of the grease. Seal should be in by Friday. Hopefully get it fixed up this weekend! Thanks again! | | |
