55 to 59, where is the best place to get a good windshield and what seal to use, steel looks very pricey.
Yeah planning ahead, a truck is in the works.

Steele Rubber Products is the best source - for non-shrinking and excellent-fitting rubber parts.

Yes they are probably the way to go, but that $42.99 for the clutch and brake pedal pads really scares me away, when everyone else is asking about $4.00 each.
I wish they had floor mats.
So where to get the glass at?

All of the Task Force glass is available at multiple vendors, I haven't called any local auto glass shops to see if they can get it through their sources.

For your glass, I've used Auto City Classic in the past. You can get the entire set or individual pieces. They even sell the vent windows fully assembled. Original green tint, custom grey tint, or clear.

Yes, but you'll pay $19 each for NOS GM Pedal pads on EBay. I bought a set of the $4.00 pads....lasted less than two years before cracking / splitting. Don't waste the $4 each and the $8 to $14 for shipping. Many dislike Ebay, but there are several NOS GM# 3711698 pads for sale right now. If not going GM , go Steele. On the glass, readily available at all the usual , I got mine from Classic Parts. I got my windshield seal from Steele. My reasoning was ( after having the brake, clutch pedal pads and gas tank grommet split ) , no more cheap foreign made crappola....

Several years ago I talked to a guy that was selling his beautiful $50K+ 1954 Chevy truck. He had it built with quality parts. He showed me his receipts. He said the number of parts installed seemed endless and the cost was always high. I try to warn people that properly redoing a classic truck requires deep pockets and a lot of research/pre-planning.

The sound of a cat, when someone steps on it's tail, comes to mind when people comment on the cost Steele's rubber products. The low cost option is to buy Asian made rubber. The previous owner of my truck had the windshield installed with this rubber. Today I have to use roofing flash sealant to patch the cracks when they show up. The repair is a little obvious (more shine) but it keeps the water from rusting the metal below.

Yeah, your all very correct, all I have to do is think of how long all our crap shoe soles last, and a few things made of chinesium rubber that turned to goo. Too bad they know better and are perfectly capable of better quality. Still though isn't most repop stuff from Taiwan ?
Does anyone know about this outfit and prices there? I'm a bit worried when they don't show an address, like maybe a scam?

How about mail order Car and Truck shop in Ca I think many years ago I ordered from them and all was good, they have glass. I'm worried about shipping and broken glass.
Also if the edges of the glass are sharp have any of you used some fine emery to break down the sharp corners? Sure would lessen a chance of a crack during install.

Question - do you plan to install the windshield yourself ? If yes, then I think you should consider contacting a local windshield repair shop and getting a quote for a new windshield. Then price a windshield plus freight from Classic Parts or American Classic Truck parts or LMC and determine what is less. Just so you know, the glass I received from Classic Parts is very high quality meets DOT-686-AS1.

How about some links for those places. I don't usually want anyone to work on my stuff so would install myself.

Back when new did the factory offer a tinted windshield in these trucks, I only remember them as clear?

In 1954, all Chevrolet trucks had an available option of a tinted windshield ("TINTED GLASS EQUIPMENT").

Okay called this place, windshield is not made in us. And they are out of clear, till after the Jan next year.
So what other out fits offer supposed decent windshields for these trucks?

1. Who makes the best windshield?
2. Who makes the best windshield gasket (rubber seal)?
3. What is the best sealant to use?

Who among us is a professional windshield specialist for classic cars and trucks?
I wish I knew of a business in WA. that is as good as Pfaff's Auto Glass in NC.
They've been a business for a long time and they do modern windshields and classics.

It's a no brainer for me. Why should I fight to install a windshield, nick the paint, scratch the glass only to have it leak on the dash and down my leg when it rains. I take it to these guys and if there is a problem with fitting or leaking, they take care of it. They provide a warranty. They have a preference for what parts and material they use.

I have never seen any auto glass installer that is careful, some think they are but they are not. I wish I had everything to do all the stuff myself (paint booth etc), only one I trust to be careful enough is my brother. Nick the paint? Everyone one(auto glass person)that I have been around does that and just uses their little bottle of paint to cover it up.
I say this is an expert.

Somewhere else on their website it says they make it in the USA. The link you showed was for a 2 piece to one piece conversion. Perhaps the regular ones are different. I'd call them to find out.

Somebody who hates the world came by and broke windshields at the Acura and Subaru dealership at night. New cars. Guess who replaced the windshields? It wasn't their service technicians.

My lightweight (gas saving) windshield took a gravel strike. It spiderwebbed 2 months later. I watched two guys at Pfaff's work on my car. They were very careful to cover everything so it didn't get scratched. They were efficient and did expert work. Even though the job looked done, my car couldn't be driven. It takes 45 minutes for the sealant to setup. Then I was told to drive home no faster than 55 mph. The following day it was safe to drive as normal. The point I'm trying to make is that if you have a business that only does auto glass, you either get good at it or you go hungry. Pfaff's is family owned and has been in business since 1913.
