Did the AD trucks originally leave the assembly line with a molded rubber boot that fits around the floor shift handle at the floor? I have a 4-speed in my 1948 Chevy 1/2 ton truck. Currently there is an after-market boot in place that is in bad shape. Is there a recommendation on where to buy a good quality replacement boot?

Jim Carter , FL165 , $9.75 , fits in floormat opening and is covered by the floor mat around the shifter housing. Nope, no boots from factory, as bartamos says.

There's something I didn't know. My '52 has a parking brake boot under the floor (aftermarket of course) but I always assumed a boot was original. What did they use to seal those openings?

There are seals for both the shifter and the parking brake. The brake has a boot under the floor and the shifter has a seal mounted to the tranny cover.
