Noticed something interesting about the serial number on this truck. The format seems to be different from the American trucks.

Wondering if it's due to there being only one assembly plant in Canada.

0C1434600002

It would seem as though it were the second off the assembly line but not sure if I'm reading it right. How significant would that be if it was number two.?

Thank you for the tip.

Now that I've done a little research I'm confused. It looks as though the 1960 should have pedals coming up through the floor. This one has them hanging from under the dash. Any ideas?

Would someone be able to shed some light as to when and why the pedals on this truck are suspended from under the dash rather than up from the floor. Canadian truck for context.

Couple of questions for you folks. If my truck was the second off the assembly line, how much stock should I put in that?

Is there a way to tell which trim package I have off a serial or model #?

Why does my 60 have pedals suspended from under the dash?

If I were to get rid of my truck does it make financial sense to part or sell whole?

Hopefully these are appropriate questions and expect to get lots of resistance on the parting idea, so fire away.

Thanks for the consideration.

Your trim package is custom. Includes all that chrome, grill, and some interior bits. We need more pictures to see it all. Might find an RPO designation on the tag up by left cowl or on a build sheet stitched into frame of seat. You can read all about the features from the heritage pages (links within stovebolt).
The fleet side bed trim is hard to find complete and if you have trim under the rear window that's hens teeth. I would not separate or piece the trim out. And I would treat it with care.
Not sure of condition of cab and panels but I would think the truck should very much stay together. I suspect we can find a bit more info on your truck if you review the left cowl tag and find the build sheet

Not sure why but the pedals were part of and attached via a large bracket that suspended under the column and dash. Normal for a number of years.
Is there more to the question? Is your bracket not complete or otherwise not functional. Easily replaced if needed.

Back to your bed and cab trim. Gold. Don't separate.

Perhaps my understanding that the 60 truck should have had pedals coming up from the floor is the problem. As I find information on these trucks I perhaps shouldn't be so willing to take it for truth. Coming here has solidified that notion.

Yes. I believe 235 cubic inch and the serial number on engine matches the truck serial plate

I am amazed that there is so much depth here. I wish I would have found you folk earlier. If I posted a pic in my intro does it make sense to repost it here or does that clutter up things?

Definitely need more pictures of interior and exterior. That custom chrome trim package might be accompanied with the custom comfort package and maybe some other goodies.
RPO - Regular Production Options. Each option is ided with 3 digit number. The shop manual includes the list for each year.

The pedals DO NOT come thru the floor. They hang. Your search was in error.
Also as Hambone has been saying.....a few years ago I saw a set of the side trim sell for above $2500!!!!!!

The next step for valuation evaluation is.
1. Good clean Title? Vin plate matches title VIN?

In buying/selling/evaluating an old truck it's ALL ABOUT RUST. Labor intensive. Expertise necessary. Having it done is out of sight. Much savings for a DIY person.
2. Rust in floors? Floors solid? roof over windshield solid? (inside and out), Hinge pockets? door bottoms? kick panel area?
3. The outer skin rust is easy to repair. But not the ones I just mentioned. All patch panel are available.
4. Frame rust out? Body to frame mount rust out?
5. Pix of: Rust. Dash. motor. undercarriage.
6. Another great expense besides "internal" rust and floor rust....is chrome.
7. Of course you need to report any majors chassis problems, like from an accident.

I am watching your posts and eventually will give my opinion on price. An "as is" price. In Canada.

Thank you for the in depth response, I will endeavor to get as many of the concern point pics as I can. In full transparency I have never driven this truck so I can't offer an opinion in the drive line. I forgot that my wifes' uncle was a mechanic for OC transpo which is the bus service for the city of Ottawa in Ontario. He had two manuals that he gave me and Hopefully I can post up picks of those.

It looks like the majority of the items are present on this vehicle. Can't tell about the seat but will get pics soon. Someone has suggest that GM Canada might want it for a legacy piece? Thoughts please.

Cab floors, cab interior, dash, seat, roof eyebrows, engine bay, better lighting pics...............
Surface rust on frame OK.........flaky metal rust NOT OK....could be mud, could be undercoat coming off, can't tell....believe it's flaky rust.

As new, it was near holy grail optioned, is a short bed (more valuable), fleet (more valuable), big window (attractive plus), 6 cyl (less valuable but original)........not looking too good in the rust category.

From 2000 miles away, knowing that pictures always look better than the actual, which means the rust is worse than it looks, which means bad rust...........using my eyes, my gut, my experience and crude honesty..........
This opinion is an arm chair valuation (actually from my La-Z-Boy command center)

It is very high on the too rusty to buy "scale". Many many hours of work. The final product will be upside down. Value now: $4000-$7000. As always, the Haggerty/KBB/NADA/Hemmings have no meaningful data on a truck in this condition. Folks like those here who have bought, refurbished and sold old trucks and know the year to year market changes, can be more qualified. See what others say. Sales are regional. Canada to USA shipping is large. I don't know the buyer base in Canada. Barrett Jackson, et al, auctions are no indication.

The rule for what it's worth is what a willing buyer will pay a willing seller on a given day. Actual documented past sales are proof of one given set of folks regarding one certain truck. Everything else is a guess. That's mine.
There are restored examples being offered at $79K.

I've seen that same info about the clutch pedals in several places.
