Howdy glad I found this site I have a 41 11/2 ton chevy flatbed with 2 spd manual rear 7-50's on front and 8-825's on rear with mid 50's 235 not sure how many miles on truck but do know that engine was rebuilt in 1990,got the truck from owner who had it since 51.

Do your 750s rub at all? I'm about to buy tires, I currently have 600s on my 39, I hear lots of guys say they run 750s on the front.

Well they don't rub except some time another the left front fender was knocked in alittle and it comes real close sometimes.I've tried to find 750's but had no luck.found some 825's for 100.00 bucks a piece.If you find the 750's let me know thanks,Randy

750s are readily available from coker and millertire, they are between 125 and 175 depending on brand and vendor from what I have found. I'm hoping the farmer's co-op can get them cheaper for me.

BTW: Can you run radials on the rear duels and bias ply on the front? 2 ton chevy 1951...

Yes you can run radials rear bias front. wouldn't recomend running them on same axle though.

Thanks. I'm still trying to find two radial 750's for the front of the fire truck without luck. I've found bias 750's and have radial 825's on it now. It rubs on the frame stop to stop. I think the 750's are smaller and will look better.

Ok here's the story of my 41 Was a little boy,sounds like a song don't it well I grew up about 3 houses away from this truck it always sit outside the owner had it since 1951 I got to keep that title,His every day vehicles were a 37 chevy coupe all original and a 39 2dr master deluxe all original,He drove these cars every day and had them hard to tell how long anyway he passed on in 99 I think and his new wife had an auction and his life long friend bought the truck,the car 37 went to fancy gap Va and the 39 went to kentucky I could really KICK myself for not going to the auction,they said that man had new tires from way back when they used to wrap paper around them,had a brand new original grill for a 41-46 truck,and about 10 chevy six's lined up rebuilt ready to go in something,he had an old building below his house and there was a 1920 something that belonged to his dad and a 1930 model car they said he would go and start them up everynow and then,gold mine,MAN I REALLY COULD KICK MYSELF JUST TO GO AND SEE WHAT HAD HAD.(DUMMY)all kind's of tools because he was a mechanic by trade,worked on heavy equiptment,he had a monstrous winch on the back of the 41 pto driven,he would use that winch to lift dozer tracks onto the bed.that's why it has 1/4 solid steel floor heavy duty.well back to the story his life long friend aquired the truck and then he died and his son got the truck and it just sit his son had a car lot and it was there for a while,I kept eyeballing it for a while,but there was no one ever there until one day I stopped again and someone was there and the guy told me 1500.00 and I could have fell over because I knew the truck,the brakes were down just needed a master cyclinder rebiult,any way at the time I was building on to our house and needed a truck to haul the materials on and I thought man this thing would haul the grand canyon Guess it was ment for me to have this truck because I had the money at the time and actually needed a truck and for only 1500.00 and it was an antique so how COOL is that the engine had been rebuilt in 1990 I think It's a mid 50's 235 with pressurized bearings,4 spd with manual 2 spd rear,looks like sometime it had it's frame lenghten like 2 ft or so and it's fish-plated,It has a later fuel tank mounted to outside of frame,found a bunch of tools under the seat,the jack,a clutch disk and throw-out bearing from 1955 the receipt said a whopping 10.00 dollars or so.and also the crank handle Iv'e used this from time to time and and it works great.The truck does run very well and I take it to the local cruise in's and everybody loves it there amazed when they see the crank handle sticking out of the front grill.there's pixs of it on this site but they put it in the 1942 area.Thanks Randy
