Picked up a nice grill surround at an auction for a 47-53 GMC. The question is: Will the surrounds fit both the pickups and the big trucks? It seems like I remember there was a difference in the hood and fenders but I can’t remember what the story was on the grills. Any guidance appreciated!

If you are asking about 6.1068 below, the answer from the 1939-53 GMC Master Parts Book is that there are 3 different parts used depending on models 350 and smaller. I'd guess that larger than 350 series would have their own.

I doubt you'd find numbers.

Someone like Crenwelge could probably tell you the difference. He probably has more than one of each in his yard.

Chevy Grilles are different between 1/2 thru 1 ton and 1-1/2 ton and larger. I'd be very surprised if a GMC grille surround would fit both the smaller and and larger trucks.

1 1/2 ton , and larger trucks have taller grilles, so the grille surrounds are also taller.

Put a tape measure on it this morning, and read it as 17 1/2 to 18 inches tall near the end.

I’m pretty sure it’s not for the small GMCs. Thanks to those who helped me on this.
