Does the 1950 Chevy 1/2 T have a fuse panel? If so where located?

Most likely it did - in the engine bay/compartment, on the firewall

Most likely it looked the fuse panel/box shown on this page.. (I'll look for a better illustration).

The text says 50-51 had only 2 fuses as seen in diagram provided by Tim. Whereas the 48-49 had 5 fuses. This corresponds to a change from a 48-49 30A light switch breaker to a 42A for 50-51. Automotive electrical was still evolving. Still a lot of goofy ideas up to the 1963 and 68 model year.

I noticed this the other day in the shop manual. Curious why the number of fuses went backwards.

....and in 55.2 it changed again. Two 13A light switch breakers and no fuses. As in all industries, lessons were learned, philosophy changed, consumers wanted safety and reliability.... and colleges were offering more specific degrees.

Headlights have gone from bulbs to sealed beam and back to bulbs. Have you ever had to polish a sealed beam headlight to get the haze off?...............NO. Is a sealed beam bright enough? YES. I do get the reason for the modern bulb system. All kinds of nice looking styling can be had. Any lens shape a designer wants. I'm getting off topic now.

My '50 has just two - Stop light and tail light.

The change-over from 5 fuses to 2 fuses might not have happened exactly on the change of the calendar/model year.

Supposedly, the assembly plants changed to a new part as soon as the old part ran out.

So, 1950 and 1951 would be the transition model-years for these types of fuses.

Yes Otto, that is what the text and diagram say for 50. Two fuses.

The Classic Parts Listing says 1947-1950 uses the 5 fuse box, which is confused me when I opened mine up.

The online manual by GM and the GM heritage Center Specification book say the same thing. 1950... two fuses, one spare, mounted on "front of dash". Stop and Tail. 20A glass cartridge. (kind of a big amp sizing for tail lights)
That is the only documentation from GM I know of. Does not matter what a vendor says or if there were extra parts overlap. The correct set up is documented.
It's possible that dealers or up fitters added fuses when heaters, spotlights and radios were added....and of course PO's. If a guy, who owns a 50, buys a 5 fuse holder from a vender who advertises it as correct, from then on it's deemed correct. That's how it goes sometimes. Doesn't matter.

Any fuse box can be used on any truck. When purity is not the goal.
