It might be worth looking into the vpower steering set up from a mid 70's C-60. I know you'd have to cut your steering column at the bottom and fit a bearing, and build a coupling from your steering shaft to the rag joint on the steering box,and I'm not sure what else would be involved, but it might be worth checking out. I used this steering box and P/S ram set up on my '66 C-60,and it was pretty much a bolt on installation, outside of building a bracket to mount the power steering ram to the middle of the axle. I do know on your truck the steering box and column are one piece,so that would have to be modified. I'm not sure if the steering box would bolt on or if you'd have to modify something to make it fit the frame. you might have to modify the link from the steering arm to the spindle, but that shouldn't be too hard. you'd have to work up some brackets to mount your power steering pump, but there's brackets available through some parts suppliers for light duty pumps, and I'm sure they can be adapted for the bigger truck P/S pump.
Granted,it'd be quite a project, but then, anything on the big 'bolts ia a big project, and it'll be so cool when it's done.
