I have both front headlights out and one has a plug and the other has just 3 connectors. I know which one is ground, question being the other 2 are a high and low beam. How do I determine which is high and and low for correct connection to the headlight.

When I replaced my buckets, I had a similar situation. From my shop log -

June 30th 2002 Thought more about the mis-matched headlight connectors overnite. Decided to abandon the search for a matching connector. Instead, the wiring stub harness female connector was cut off and replaced by three female blade connectors. The main disadvantage with this solution is that I now have to remember and document which wire connects to which terminal (brown-top, black-left, green-right). The connection was finished up with an electrical tape wrapping and the inner fender grommet was placed on the stub harness using the needle-nose pliers trick to spread the grommet opening enuf to get the wires thru.

On my truck, green is the high beam. Hope this helps

The sealed beam headlights that were used for about 40 years all had a standardized connector that crossed makes for all cars and trucks. Even the 4-headlight vehicles that started in 1958 used the same 3 pin connector for the high/low beam lights. It doesn't matter what year or make of vehicle you use as a donor- - - -they will all fit and work the same way. BTW- - - -the center pin of the three IS NOT the ground! To determine which headlight pins are used for each beam, I'd suggest using a battery and some jumper leads on a headlight.

What Jerry said. You can buy replacement headlight connectors at your FLAPS.

Here's a wiring diagram (common goes to ground) [on edit] bartamos beat me to the punch with the diagram.

One more to be sure would be nice. Quad redundancy is brain surgery and rocket science safe.

Sorry for the redundancy! I didn’t see the other two that were right in front of me. I would delete the post the but cat is out of the bag. LOL
