Hello. Did GM publish anything about the location of the optional running board step plate? I will be installing the OE style step plates with the anti-slip texture. Is there a measurement from the front of the running board to the centerline of the step plate? I’ve read some people place them after everything has been bolted together. I’ve also heard of people placing them where they think is best but turns out it’s in the wrong spot. At this point in my project the seats out in pieces and the cabs off the frame. I would like to get the running boards drilled for the step plates then paint so that’s why I was hoping to get the measurement now. Any thoughts or information on placement of the step plate and any installation tips are appreciated. Thank you.

Works well to notice where marks are left in use, locate there. Q tips are your friend in painting all drilled holes to prevent rust later.

I installed it by opening the door and putting it where it was convenient to get in.
