I found one but am unsure if it is the engine I am looking for. I am looking for a full pressure oiled with insert bearings. The seller claims it came out of a 52 but sounded unsure if it was the original engine. He passed on casting number of: CON3 G134
I am looking to put a little power into it and a new ring and pinion in the back for more speed.
Thanks for anything you might be able to tell me.

G = 7th letter of alphabet = 7th month = July. 13 = 13th day of month. 4 = 1954. Should be full pressure motor. It should have all of the visual clues as well: valve cover held on with 4 screws, low side (lifter) cover, no little plate & pipe thing on driver's side of block. Good luck!

All 54-62 235s were full pressure, at least in sedans. The casting date sounds right for a '54 FP 235, but you'd have to get the block casting # to tell for sure. The casting number is on the pass side of the block near the road draft tube.
But I suggest finding a 55-62 2nd series 235, as they are a little more modern and don't require shimstock to set main bearing clearance like late 53-55 1st series FP 235 engines do.

54 3100 with 235
62 flatbed dump C60 with 261
