I am joining because I have my eyes and heart set on a 47 1/2 ton pickup I will go see tomorrow. I attached a few pics.
I love the truck appearance just the way it is. Not road worthy. The current owner says it will need rockers, floor, cab corners, brake lines and the back window is cracked.
Still a 6 volt setup, and I hope to see it run to show the motor works when I go see it. Pretty sure it's a Babbert bearing engine.
This would be my first "project" car after waiting for years for kids to get out of the house and through school.

Any advice on things to ask about or look out for when I go check it out is appreciated. I know it needs work, and I don't know how to weld. I am hoping to have it back on the road for small trips around the area.

Thanks,
Larry

Hello Larry,

Is the truck still assembled or is it in pieces? Either way the half tons are getting tougher to find and this one looks pretty straight and complete. Make sure it comes with a title. Let us know if you get it.

Welcome to the Stovebolt. We're glad you found us.

John

Welcome to the Stovebolt madness. There is no cure! shake

Title with matching numbers is a must. Busted bleeding knuckles and plenty of bruises. You will learn and relearn new words. Most of all don’t hesitate to ask questions in the appropriate garage forum here on Stovebolt.

Appreciate the welcome.
That's one concern I have is that he mentioned a Kentucky title for collector. When i looked at the Kentucky DMV they have two categories for collector. "Project" and just "Collector or Classic". If you live in Kentucky you must get the vehicle inspected to get it out of project status to put it on the street. Hoping that is not the case in Ohio because Mansfield to my knowledge it the only place doing recertification and it's a haul from where I live.

Reassembled. I go look at it today. It's an hour south of me. The title is one big deal to me. My brother is going with me with instructions to keep me from overlooking too much but I pray she's in good enough shape I can make a handshake agreement and then figure out how to trailer it back to my house. Fingers crossed

I like it like it is. That will make a nice daily driver. Take care of safety issues and drive it. We are here to help you.

Welcome to the forum, I'm up here in the Wolverine so you might not even want to talk to me. I had no trouble getting a title for my '57, now I have it on the road and legal.
