Hello-

Does anyone have a source for the front engine mount brackets that are used for the 283 V8 engine for a 1958-59 chevy truck. These brackets bolt to the front crossmember frame and are the same for 1/2 ton thru 2 ton trucks.

Original GM part numbers are:

Drivers side- 3716773
Passenger side- 3716774


See attached picture I found online. I am looking for the shiny brackets that are bolted to the front crossmember. The stand off pegs and bushings bolt to this bracket, then to the engine bracket.

Hy oldfarmall, Jim Carter sells their part number HP122, which is the entire conversion kit for a truck which originally came with a six cylinder engine. I won't quote a price as my catalogue is an old one, hope that helps.

I've never seen the brackets sold separately, but you could ask...

Thanks for the info guys! I did see the full kits online with the brackets. I am swapping out my worn out 261 for a 350 V8. I do have the engine brackets already, and the standoffs with rubber bushings are same as the V8 after looking at my parts books, so I plan to reuse those. Was hoping someone had just the frame brackets before I drop $150 for the whole works. I might try to hit up a few salvage yards yet too. Thanks for the replies so far!

Hy oldfarmall, the brackets that bolt to the engine are different for the six cylinder engines and the V8 engines, so you will need those as well

The original frame brackets are riveted in. You will need a torch or good drill & bits to get them out.

You asked about Chevy motor mounts. Try Speedway Motors. Do es you 283 bolt on the front of the motor or the side?

Sorry, took a closer look. You need that the bracket that from side to side of the frame and bolts to the front of the motor. Hurst used to make and sell them. I checked Speedway and they have the bracket that bolts to the motor. Then you bolt brackets to your frame and use the “donut” motor mounts between the motor mount and the frame mounts.

oldfarmall We called those the toadstool mounts,every neighborhood has a nickname for stuff. Just a while back some of those came my way,always save em ! Have several piles of hard to find stuff took 60 years !
