Well it is finally time to put everything back together! So here is the first hurdle that I have come across. Old vacuum advance was bad, engine rebuilder found me a replacement. It is the universal one that everyone has on their sites. I have no issue with it. The issue that I have is that the clamp to the Distributor will not work with this Vacuum Advance.
My old VA sat at a roughly 30 degree angle from the engine. The new one is inline with the engine.
" First question is "What is this Called?"
Second question is "Where do I get this part?"
I didn't see it listed on either Jim Carters or Chevy's of the 40s websites.
As always THANK YOU in advance. I am ever so Grateful for this wonderful source of knowledge, support and wisdom

Brian Moore Now I am a big fan of updates and if you like original that is fine. If you go to HEI you'll save yourself a lot of misery with related problems plus you'll get powerful ignition. Also you can modify an early HEI (not computer controlled) right at home probably with tools you have 4 inch grinder, drill, hacksaw, file. I find a clean used donor distributor at the junkyard, make it same dimensions as the one that is in there.Good Luck !!

Now is the time to pull the point plate, clean all the junk out of the bottom, make sure the springs and spring posts on the advance are good, lubricate the advance weights to make sure they are free and fling out easily. If the weights are rusty or hanging up, you can bend back the locking tabs and nuts, pull the top plate and polish up the weights so it’s all nice and clean and lubricated.
