I need a front hood emblem. The original split down the middle (pic). I see a source that offers either chrome-plated steel or stainless steel. I lean to the SS but only if it's as shiny as chrome.

What do you suggest? Thanks.

Stainless steel can be polished up pretty nicely if it isn't already. I would lean toward stainless as well.

Stainless version over a chrome grill. The chrome grill is your typical overseas version. The bumper triple plated at a local chrome shop, for comparison.

53 model trucks featured stainless only hood emblems due to Korean War chrome shortages, also painted hubcaps and bumpers. I have 2 original stainless emblems that shine up nicely and will never rust and otherwise appear identical to chrome plated. I'll take stainless any day over China chrome.

For whatever its worth, the early ADs sported a die cast chrome hood emblem.

Stainless steel would not have split like the picture above shows. That was a cast emblem. I went w/SS.
