I need a front hood emblem. The original split down the middle (pic). I see a source that offers either chrome-plated steel or stainless steel. I lean to the SS but only if it's as shiny as chrome.

Stainless steel can be polished up pretty nicely if it isn't already. I would lean toward stainless as well.

Stainless version over a chrome grill. The chrome grill is your typical overseas version. The bumper triple plated at a local chrome shop, for comparison.
53 model trucks featured stainless only hood emblems due to Korean War chrome shortages, also painted hubcaps and bumpers. I have 2 original stainless emblems that shine up nicely and will never rust and otherwise appear identical to chrome plated. I'll take stainless any day over China chrome.
