Is it possible to hook up dash temp and Gen lights and aftermarket gauges simultaneously? I'm rewiring with painless harnesses. Would really like to have both.

Temp- Possible, two different senders. One gauge style, one light style

Gen- Possible, Depending on gen/alt/gauge used.

I put a T on my oil pressure line so I have the dash light and electric oil pressure gauge.

The big gold bell on the right is the sender for the aftermarket oil pressure gauge. The smaller one on the left is for the dash oil pressure light. Some 1964-66 instrument clusters have an actual gauge, but mine just has a warning light.

Hi,
Yes it's possible to do both. i did on my 63 c10. You will just use the factory wiring harness for the dash idiot lights. For the temperature idiot light, i used the factory harness and connected it to the factory sensor, but used it on top of the intake, because i didn't really care about the light going on from that point. For the aftermarket temp gauge, i used a mechanical gauge and ran it through a factory hole in the firewall and have it coming directly from the engine block. Usually mechanical gauges have the temp sending unit on it. I used a "Stewart Warner" one.

For the gen light, it just uses the factory harness for the light to go on.

For the oil pressure, same thing. I ran a Stewart warner gauge and put the line through the firewall and directly in a port behind the distributor for oil pressure. Reads great too.

So, yes you can do both. I'm assuming you can do electrical gauges, but it's all wiring and maybe more of a voltage sensor, where mechanical gauges give you a true read out.

Hope this helps.

Working on my 64 c10 dash wiring and I need the indicator lenses and the carboard tubes that hold the lenses.
I've been trying a few part sites and none have them for a 64. Does anyone have a lead on where to find them ?

Fuel is the only guage in my dash console rest are the lights.

Thanks

Pretty sure the 67-72 dash tubes will work. LINK HERE.
Many different vendors sell them. I restored my 1965 dash and it’s the one without gauges too. Here’s a tip to make the lights a little brighter. Link here.

I talked to classic but ill try a different year. The one I need most is the rectangle ones.

Good idea with the foil !

Rectangular tubes? Hmmm!
I shop with TruckandCarShop a lot. I’ll look to see what they have available.

TruckandCarShop dot com sells the same tubes as other vendors. Not sure why they only indicate years for 67-72. They should be correct for 64-66 too. Just cardboard tubes with a green or red lens on the end.
