How reliable is an engine with a cracked and deformed (out of round for about an inch midway) cylinder that gets professionally sleeved?
It's not a stovebolt, but destined to haul one - a 2000 Cat 2136 7.2l diesel in a GMC C8500. Will be gently used for hauling the '52 for longer trips, hopefully for some of the meets below the border if we ever get over Covid stuff.
If this needs to move moderators, please do so.

Thanks,
Mike

This post will probably get zapped pretty quickly- - - -send me a PM. I've been installing sleeves for 50-something years.

52 vff Cylinder sleeves if properly captured (so they can't move) will go ahead and wear the engine out.

52vff In blocks with not much damage would put in a 3/32 sleeve (.093) then bore .030 over. Could get it so you couldn't tell which hole the sleeve was in. Ran those street and in dirt cars never lost one.
