An interesting video of a 261 500HP engine build. Looks to be dated 10/2021. The skill and knowledge to pull this off is impressive. The price tag is not revealed.
I think that this is the third or 4th. time that build has been featured in a thread. Other than the block and the crankshaft, that thing resembles a 261 about as much as a sirloin steak resembles a can of Spam. I'm working on something similar, except it's going to have close to 300 cubic inches, and it actually uses stock 261 pistons. No, I don't use a turbo, and the HP is probably closer to 150-175 than 500, but the engine will actually be useful for something other than bragging. Jerry

Bore divided by two- - - - -60 over would be 3.810"- - - -half of that is 1.905 Bore radius squared- - - -1.905 X 1.905 = 3.629 3.629 X Pi (3.14) = 11.395 multiplied by the stroke (3.9375) = 44.87 cubic inches- - - -displacement of one cylinder.
44.87 X 6 = 269.21 cubic inches. Jerry

I rebuilt that engine in 1970 (my second and last USA engine rebuild).
It is still in my 1954 3106 (1/2 ton) Suburban.
After I put in the 3.55 R&P gears (and all new bearings/seals/etc in the torque-tube and rear axels), and after I went through a break-in procedure, I took my young professional mechanic/painter-friend for a ride on a long straight rural road. He almost wet his pants when I easily reached 93 mph. That was over 25+ years ago.
That USA 261 is a great engine. The only thing that I have changed is the carburetor.
Think of what it could do with an extra 30 cubic inches and a lot more torque. The one I've got on the drawing board is going to have a 4 3/8" stroke instead of 3 15/16". There are a few more sneaky tricks up my sleeve as well! Jerry
