I’m gathering parts for my 46 11/2 ton truck project. The 216 is junk so as long as I’m replacing the motor I found a late model 235 out of a 61 pickup. The motor didn’t come with a bell housing, flywheel, clutch, pressure plate ,or starter. Will these items off of my 46 216 bolt up and work on the 235?
Thanks to this forum I’ve got a handle on the water pump relocation👍.

The bellhousing and flywheel will bolt right up!
The throttle linkage is the last thing to consider.
I have one option on my blog. http://chev235guy.blogspot.com/search/label/216%20235%20Throttle%20Pivot%20Positions?m=0

Sounds like a good plan and Pre'68Dave has all the info, read all his blog pages! You will need his adaptor plate to use the 216 style water pump in your '46 as the 55 and later sixes has a lower mounted pump with a long pulley, no room for the later pump in your '46.

Testing the photo attachment system as I’m new to the site. Let’s see if I did it correctly?😜

That’s a sweet looking project you have! If you lived closer I would offer to swap a truck 216 for the later model 235. Best of luck and fun with your new old resto.

That is a good looking '46. You will have to use your '46 clutch housing because the sliding gear transmission in your 46 has a different bolt pattern than the SM420 4 speed and the engine mounts are different.
