For helping keep this great
old truck web site
on the Internet for over 30 years! and not clogged down with Ads! Again, thanks! | | | | Joined: Jan 2022 Posts: 11 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Jan 2022 Posts: 11 | Good Morning Bolters, I recently purchased a 1954 GMC 100 z series pick up. Truck is complete minus rocket hood ornament, and steering wheel.
Under the hood pretty much looks like an old time capsule. I’ve done some research and believe it’s a 248. Not for sure have not ran any casting numbers yet but believe from looking at the rest of the truck that it is original. It has a hillbilly 5 speed (4 on the floor and a fifth under the seat)(joking). 4 speed manual tranny, torque tube drive shaft.
Truck has been sitting for many years, I’ve attempted to turn it over by hand with fan belt with no luck.Because the truck is so complete I would like to restore it back to original condition. I have some experience with rebuilding engines (sbc-bbc) but never a inline 6.
Hope to get some guidance and suggestion’s from you all.
