I have purchased a 1954 series 15 Chevy 2 ton truck and am looking for the correct side emblems on the hood. I have the 1954 sales folder and it shows both a 1543 and 1500 on the side. I would think that the 1500 would have been the correct emblem but don't know. Any ideas where to find an emblem, thanks.

My 54 1 1/2 ton says 4400 on the side. I would think that your 2 ton should say 6400,

I just so happen to know where a 6400 Chevy is sitting.. says "Chevrolet" and just below it says "6400".

I read on antiquechevytrucks.com that in mid 1952 GM stopped using 3100, 3600, 3800 emblems on side of hood. However, CHEVROLET emblems are used the entire year.

Don't know if that applied to the bigger series trucks (like the 6400) or not.. but I guess if '48bigtrucks has a 4400 on the side, then it dosent apply to the bigguns.

an idea is only stupid if you think about it rationally.

I just studied the sales flyer a little closer and noticed that there were three configurations of the 1500 series produced in '54. A model 1553 with a 179" wheel base and a 16,000 lb GVW, a 1543 with a 161" wheel base and 16,000 GVW and a 1533 with a 137" wheel base and a 26,000 GVW. In the flyer they all just show the number 1500 below the Chevrolet emblem on both sides.

In '53, Chevy went back to the series number on the side of the hood (just the number, no Chevrolet script). Same for '54.

For U.S. production, the 2-tons would be 6000 series, and 1500 would refer to the 150 series passenger cars (including sedan delivery).

For Canadian production, I think the 2-ton trucks were 1500 series. So this must be a Canadian truck.

I don't think any of these number emblems exist as repops for anything other than a 3100 series.

Yes indeed, this would be a Canadian built Chevrolet Truck. As Xram53 said, the 2 ton models, were the 1500 series trucks. Should show evidence, of this, on the ID Plate, in the driver door jamb.

Yes, this is a truck built at the GM Canada plant in Oshawa Ontario. The ID plate has all of the important information on it including the model, serial, engine, body serial and paint numbers. I have purchased a "kit" from GM that will give me all of the information that they have on the truck. Who first purchased it, color and other specs. As of yet I have not recieved this information.
As just a bit of fun information, I will share a brief story about my trip this morning to the DMV here in northwest Wisconsin. When I brought this vehicle across the border from Quebec into New York, I was told that all of the importation paperwork had to be correct and it would all be necessary in order to get the title/license here in the states. After we got into the states I noticed that the person at the US border made a couple of mistakes on the serial number and the country of origin. I got a little worried that those mistakes might cause some problems with getting a Wisconsin title. Took all of the importation paperwork into the DMV this morning and the only thing they wanted to see was the old title/registration form Quebec, nothing else. Nothing other than the sales tax due and the other license/title fees! Apparently if the vehicle was manufactures before 1960 something they are exempt from a great deal of paperwork. So I am now street legal!
