G'day,

I am a newbie on this forum, and new to GM trucks. Allow me to introduce my self, my name is Sel, and I live in Sydney, Australia. I just pulled apart for restoration a 1948 ? Chevrolet Loadmaster. I am not really sure what I have so here are a few bits of information from the ID tags, so any info on identifying the truck would be greatly appreciated.
First tag: GM Holden's LTD, Chassis number (Blank), GVM (9000 pounds).
Second tag: GM Holden's LTD, Style (48-5211B),Body number (1652),Trim (122),Paint (3), Top (Blank), ACC (11).
Last tag: GM Canada, Model S/N (8-1132-31625),engine S/N (XR260697),Body S/N (Blank), Trim (294),Paint (FC)

Badges, Chevrolet Loadmaster, has 4 speed gearbox, single speed diff w/dual wheels, 20 inch split two piece rims, RHD, has vents on both sides, two piece windscreen, 1/4 vent windows in doors, fuel tank on LHS behing cab off the chassis. Engins looks like a 216, it is a straight six, with single barrell carb. Two packs of rear progressive leaf springs.Chassis is flat at the rear, and slight kink on the front section, looks to be about 8 mm thick.

Thanks in advance,

Cheers,

Sel

Welcome aboard the Stovebolt Page, Sel!

Sounds like you have a good project going. Be sure to check out the rest of the site, using the links at the top of the page. And don't hesitate to ask questions -- we're here to help.

The guys will want to see pictures of this truck of yours (before you took it apart, during the restoration and afterwards) -- send 'em all to Peggy, along with your story (how you found the truck, its history, etc) for the Gallery.

We're at [email protected]

Glad to have you with us down there!

Regards,
John

Thanks fellows,

Not much to look at, but here are a few pics...(see link below)...
The white one is a ute that I sold to a mate, and he finished it off.It is fitted to the Holden HQ Stationwagon chassis, and is running a 253 V8 on LPG. The black truck is mine.

Can anyone shed any light on the codes on the tags ? They don't seem to correspond to the American Truck VIN info.

Cheers,

Sel

Love that right hand look! I came across a few places that had canadian lookups while chasing our numbers. Will watch for them, and holler back at you when I see them again.

I know for sure there are a few Canadian regular visitors out there who have the scoop on those numbers.. i'm sure they'll be around in a bit to crunch the numbers for you.

the CDN numbers look to be just production serial number, but someone might know what the FC paint code is - it would appear to be a 48 from the Holden number - I think GM Canada did the buildup, just adding basic sequence numbering, and sent them off to Holden for finishing - as a big bolt it prolly was shipped as cab/chassis

'bolt group in Tonga? pope a closet GM fan? eek just never know where the ol info hiway gets to! grin
